Hindu union

o Hindu Religious Festivals such as Navarathri, Sivarathri, Skanda sashti, Guru Poojas are celebrated with great enthusiasm in addition to religious discourses by Religious leaders.

o Competitions in Kolam, garland making, and drama are conducted and certificates are awarded.

Tamil union

o Students participate in the Tamil day competition organized by the Education Department and always win places.

o Participate in the competition organized by other schools.

o The union organises Kalai Vizha on a grand scale and also invites other schools for participation in the competition.

English literary union

o Union holds meetings regularly.

o Competitions are organized in various skills such as Speech, Recitation, Creative writing and Dictation and certificates are awarded.

o Students participate in the English Day Competition organised by the Education Department and win places.

o The union organises the Annual English Day celebrations and invites other schools.

Fine Arts

o Students participate in the dance competition organised by the Education Department and always win places at the All Island level.

o They also participate in the competition conducted by various schools and institutions.
o Students also present ballets for various school functions.

Science union

o Union organises Science Day and exhibition.

o Students participate in the General knowledge quiz competition conducted by other schools.

o Students organise competitions and award certificates.

Commerce union

o Union celebrates Commerce Day.

o School level competitions are conducted and certificates are awarded.

o Students also participate in the competitions organised by other institutions.

Health Union

o The members of the union maintain cleanliness, attend seminars on the prevention of various diseases such as Dengue and participate in the awareness programme on Aids organised by the Ministry of Health.
Girls Guides Association

o Students participate in the south Asian Games Rally, 43rd south management and celebrate Deepavali festival.

o Collect funds to help the needy.

o Two students Viveka Srirangan and Umamahesry Moorthie participate in the Girl Guides Camp and are selected to attend an International camp in UK.

 St John Ambulance

o Students provide first aid at all times during school hours and other functions.

o Provide relief aid for the needy and the displaced

o Two students Rathigashini Ramachandran and Arthihai Srirangan participate in the international camp held in Germany.

o Students participate in many competitions.

o Union organises ‘Library Day’ for the first time in 2007.

Debating club

o Students participate in the debate competitions organised by other schools and Shakthi T.V.

o Wins the first place in the Debate tournament conducted by the Practical Action organisation.

o Wins the third place and the Best Debater award in the Tamil day competition.

Drama club

o Students win places at the Tamil day drama competition and also at the drama competition organised by Royal College.

o Club presents a drama in memory of Shekelar Peruman at Tamil Sangam.

Interact club

o Club collects funds to help the needy.

o Students participate in the election of the new president held at hotel
Galadari.

o Attend awareness campaign programme on Aids.

o Members of the club participate in the exhibition conducted by Colombo Hindu College and St. Peter’s college.
o The club releases a commemorative cover jointly with Saiva Mangaiyar Kalagam in remembrance of the 75th Anniversary of Saiva Mangaiyar Kalagam and also an exhibition by the members under the patronage of Dr. Chandra Rodrigo.
