The premier institution of the Saiva Mangaiyar Kalagam is the Vidyalayam which is an academically excellent Secondary School (Assisted Private), committed to empower and educate the younger generation of Tamil Hindu girls especially the disadvantaged from the Northeast of the country, to face the challenges of a fast changing world. We create leadership in them enabling them to be positive contributors to society by providing through education the wisdom of our ancient Hindu faith and culture.

The Mission Statement

At its core, the Vidyalayam promotes the three Rs contributing towards the fulfillment of life where students realize their intellectual and creative promise. It helps students to pursue an education in the service and spirit of religion and moral values becoming a special place to grow, develop a strong sense of community commitment and inspiring life long learning.

Education – the Hindu Perspective

All power and knowledge whether secular or spiritual in Hindu thinking, are inherent in the human Soul – “The gigantic intellect is coiled up in the protoplasmic cell of the human being.” Education helps in uncovering and manifesting this knowledge. Since knowledge is covered and has to be discovered, Education is spoken of in Vedantic terms as “The manifestation of the Perfection already in man.”

The Western interpretation of the nineteenth century is “Education is the manifestation of the inherent faculties of man.”
